CAPTIVE BRED LIONS
SA's 8,500+ CAPTIVE BRED LIONS are doomed for "TERMINATION "due to Activism pressure & the SA Government's new 2024 "LAW"
The CAPTIVE BRED LIONSÂ in South Africa comprise 82% of ALL lions in South Africa and more than 36% of the lions found in Africa.
Sadly, the South African Government approved a new law in 2024 that basically BAN the captive bred lion industry in South Africa, regardless of the fact that:
- the SA Government is and was the mandated regulatory authority of the industry for decades; and
- regardless of those facilities with a proven tract record of ethical lion research, education and/or tourism.
Captive bred lion owners are now basically given TWO options:
- Sterilise all their lions (at their own cost) and are then not allowed any tourism activities to sustainably support and care for these lions; or
- Euthanize all their captive bred lions and burn the carcasses –Â and again, at the lion owner’s own cost.
The “new 2024 law” thus forces a GENOCIDE of all SA’s captive bred lions + no compensation for the lion owners.Â
